Goerger wins best of show

Professional photographer, Virginia Goerger, took a picture at the Bagg Farm of an old crane.

The beautiful blue sky and striking green grass were a perfect compliment to the rusty piece of old machinery.

Goerger entered the photo in the sixth annual family history photography contest sponsored by Minnesota State University Moorhead.

Although she arrived at the luncheon late, Goerger was pleasantly surprised to hear her photo took first plan in the places and things category and won best of show as well.

Goerger owns and operates Virginia’s Photos and Flowers out of Wyndmere. She was happy to win, mostly because this was the first time she entered a print from her own home pringing process from her digital camera.

“I was excited about the picture, but I didn’t know if my printing was good enough.” Goerger said. “To hear my name announced was just awesome.”

The event was attended by 205 people from a three-state area, and also from Canada. Most were interested in recording history and genealogy through their cameras, Goerger said.

Through her volunteer work at the Bagg Bonanza Farm in Mooretown, Goerger was able to chronicle much of the farm’s history. Her award is an example of what has become a passion.
